Sleaford Little Theatre to offer their first 'relaxed performance'

Sleaford Little Theatre's objectives are to advance education by encouraging the arts and providing facilities for practical participation in the production and performance of stage plays.

We also wish to provide a safe and inspiring artistic environment for the community's younger members and contribute towards a new generation of theatre professionals.

This year, SLT has been working with the Rainbow Stars Charity to provide a performance that is intended specifically to be sensitive to and accepting of audience members (and their families/carers) who may benefit from a more relaxed environment, including (but not limited to) neurodivergent individuals, parents with very young children on their first trip to the theatre, and anyone with sensory, communication or learning difficulties.

A relaxed performance contains small changes to the sound levels, lighting and no pyrotechnics or strobe lighting are used. The performance is a less formal, more supportive atmosphere to reduce anxiety levels. Auditorium doors are left open to allow customers to move around during the performance.

We are proud to announce that we will be holding a special relaxed performance of Santa Claus & the Great Christmas Caper on Sunday, 4th December 2022, at 1:30 pm.

Rainbow Stars began life as a Facebook group for families with children with additional needs.  It was founded by parents whose children had recently been diagnosed autistic who found that they knew few other families in similar situations and didn’t know where to find support and advice. As news of the group spread, it grew to include approximately 1500 members today.

Rainbow Stars organise and host numerous events inside the Hub and on regular, carefully organised excursions.

Sleaford Little Theatre hopes that this will be the first of many relaxed performances enabling more people to experience live theatre in Sleaford and the surrounding areas of Lincolnshire.
