Pennyless in concert at the Sleaford Playhouse, Friday 5th May 2017
Show starts 7.30pm doors at 7 pm, BAR, Tickets £10
Since their appearance here last year Pennyless have released album number 5, entitled “In the Park”: “gorgeously quirky stuff…essential and eccentric folk rock at it’s best” Fatea magazine
The four-piece acoustic band from South Lincolnshire call upon medieval history for inspiration and blend vocal harmonies, flute, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin and djembe to great effect. High energy folk rock with splashes of psych-folk, driving violin and English-rose vocals. The music is varied, from romping pirate songs to delicate harmony blends, but always inventive and delivered with a brilliant light touch.
"Pennyless, a quirkily distinctive presence on the contemporary acoustic scene" R2 Rock n Reel magazine Oct 16.
“The band’s virtuosity is their key selling point, there are some really good songs enhanced by great arrangements” Dai Jeffries folking.com
"very highly recommended" Terrascope magazine
