Cinema is back in Sleaford!

After a quarter of a century, the magic of the big screen is returning to Sleaford this autumn as we get going with our new Community Cinema at The Playhouse. We’re kicking off our programme with the classic Cinema Paradiso, followed by Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, a film written by our Honorary Patron, Julian Fellowes.

Our schedule of films will continue throughout September and October before returning in the new year, following the winter panto season.

We’re excited to be bringing a new era of cinema to the town. Audiences will be able to enjoy a wide variety of films, from timeless classics to modern masterpieces, a true cinema experience that has been missing for so long here. Films we're working to bring in for the autumn season include various new releases along with some classics from 1950 and 2000 (significant years in the history of Sleaford Little Theatre!); plus we’ll also be bringing you the best in British theatre with various National Theatre Live broadcasts including Inter Alia starring Rosamund Pike. We’ve long missed the convenience of a local cinema here in Sleaford, but we’ve been able to fill the gap thanks to the work of the dedicated volunteers of our society. SLT Chair of Trustees Andy Canadine says: “We are delighted to bring cinema back to Sleaford. The Playhouse has always been a home for live theatre, but now we can also provide a community space for film lovers. We hope it becomes a regular highlight for local people.”

With our cultural hub bringing in so many visitors, we’re looking to recruit more volunteers to help on our front of house team.
