An Evening of One Acts Awaits

The Playhouse is set to burst into life this May with Sleaford Little Theatre's One Act Play Festival, bringing an exciting showcase of original, homegrown theatre to our stage.

Taking place at the end of the month, the festival features three brand-new short plays, each written and performed by local talent. From bold storytelling to inventive staging, the One Act Plays are a celebration of creativity at its most immediate and engaging, offering audiences a chance to experience fresh work created right here in the community.

Rehearsals are already well underway, with casts and crews working hard behind the scenes to bring these stories to life. But what exactly awaits you when the lights go down? Step into three very different worlds, each with its own story to tell…

The Grandfather Paradox - with Andrew Charlton, Amanda Grant and Charlie Brewer

Written by Barry Wood, the play is directed by Nigel Guilliatt who helmed last year's Sand Castles. Expect a madcap spy comedy of errors as Jim and Sarah arrive at a fancy dress party as Einstein and a nun, and are joined by Arthur dressed as a German soldier. And that's when all hell breaks loose...

Written by Kei Bailey, well known at The Playhouse for his pantomimes, this production marks the latest directorial outing for Kim Rayner, who previously directed Quartet. Far, far away, in a dim corner of a less-than-salubrious tavern, three bounty hunters gather in a world where magic has been outlawed across the kingdoms. What follows is an imaginative tale of enchantment, danger, and long-forgotten legends.

The third of our one acts is written and directed by Maria Bates who brought Macbeth to The Playhouse in 2024. On the edge of midnight, a candlelit room, a stranger and a tarot reading unravel truths best left buried. Sure to send goose bumps crawling as certainty dissolves and nothing is as it seems.
